Thinking About New Year’s Resolutions? – Don’t Discount Your Property
It only seems like 2 minutes ago that we were celebrating the beginning of 2010 and now we have celebrated the end of it! Nevertheless, 2011 is already here and this is the best time to make a couple of New Year’s resolutions. It could be cutting out smoking, getting fitter, walking the dog more or even just being nicer to a work mate. But there is an item in our lives which is also worth thinking about; our home. So along with the private resolutions, how about considering some resolutions about the home you live in.
Below are some ideas of possible resolutions for you:
Think about the environment and come up with strategies to make your house more ecologically friendly Try not to be too wasteful and begin, for example, recycling and splitting up trash! This very simple resolution helps the world we live in and protects valuable resources.
Carbon Monoxide detectors and fire alarms are extremely important in every walk of life, including our property. Many of us still do not have detectors in our homes; therefore this is a good time to purchase and install some. For those of you who have these detectors installed, you need to make sure they are working and the batteries do not need changing. This resolutions is definitely the most important resolution you could make, CO2 and smoke alarms have saved many lives, the next life it saves could be yours and your loved ones.
Instead of being impulsive, plan for those property improvements. Think about what you want to decorate or refurbish in your home and write them down, so you have a list of chores to be done. Once you have your list, you can see what you need to get, then look around while the sales are on or investigate the price differences in different outlets. It would certainly cost you much more if you paid for everything at once, at full price. By making plans you have the opportunity to look around and find the best goods for your budget.
When purchasing an appliance for your home think about what you want, the price you want to spend before researching thoroughly your options; avoid buying the first one you come across. Many appliances, even if more money, may save you a lot of energy; try to think your purchase though!
Think about energy – could you be more energy conscious? There are many ways you can save money and energy in the home. It’s straightforward, here are few examples – don’t leave the light on when it isn’t necessary, don’t leave the windows open for too long (it take ages to heat the room in such a case) and turn off the TV/computer when you aren’t using it.
Look after and take care of your house! Regular maintenance is necessary don’t neglect it. To keep your home in decent shape and avoid big repair bills, make sure any repairs or redecoration is completed regularly.
As a Toronto realtor, I know resolutions bounded to home are difficult. Lots of resolutions depend on your personal plans and requirements. Plan to paint the bedroom, change the decor or move the furniture if you’ve wanted to for a long time! Just pluck up the courage and do it! Do what makes you feel satisfied and improves the home you live in.
