Effective team management requires your team to conduct regular one on one sessions with them. For your first 10 mins ask them to discuss whatever they want to talk about then just make any notes. The key things about this one on one is for you to listen to what they have to say about their concerns and train your ear in the process. This is another way for you to easily remember these things especially when the time comes that you need to ask them questions about these things even if these are related to work or not.
Then ask them what it’s they’ve been working on over the past couple of weeks. Encourage them to provide nuggets of these things as well as those that come to mind while they are sharing these concerns to you. This might be a good time for you to lead them to know more about their tasks by letting them go through a specific training or read a report to enhance their understanding about the task at hand.
You can also make use of these information to come up with promotional videos for your company. Ask your video assistant to divide these into segments to make these videos more interesting to watch. Ask the rest of your staff if someone would like to work with your video guy on that task and let them collaborate. This is another way to break the monotony in doing their daily tasks as well as giving them the chance to assess their skills if they can transition from their current task to this new assignment. What is important is that they are producing quality work because they enjoy the tasks that they are doing for you.
That is the key to have a happy and satisfying work environment.
